Fasterholt irrigation machines allow the pipe to be rolled-up on the move instead of being towed along the ground, therefore reducing wear and increasing lifespan of the hose significantly.
When compared to traditional UK hose irrigators, Fasterholt irrigation reels operate using lower pressure levels, saving fuel, energy consumption and water, ensuring an efficient field irrigation.
Fasterholt Maskinfabrik was founded in 1958 and is a family-owned company. Today, the company is run by the third generation. Experience passed down through the generations and a focus on quality are two of the main characteristics. The irrigators have proven their worth because the initial models are still working today.
Fasterholt manufacture two types of irrigators: self-moving irrigators and hose reel machines. While the self-moving irrigators are able to move and irrigate in straight tracks and soft curves, the sprinkler cart on the hose reel machine is pulled in as straight as an arrow. For this reason, the hose reel machines are well-suited to sensitive row crops such as vegetables and strawberries, and the self-moving irrigators are able to utilise the full hose length in the best way possible, ensuring a highly efficient field irrigation process.
The high-performance Fasterholt irrigation reels allow a completely new approach to irrigation. Allowing irrigation ‘in lands’ with the irrigation reel moving, rather than a rain gun being towed; the reel moves up and down the field around the headland turn substantially reducing labour in setting out and number of hydrants required in the field. With the reel moving rather than the pipe being dragged along the ground, the pipe remains stationary at all times, signigicantly reducung wear.
With reduced wear on the pipe, for the same OD (outside diameter) of pipe the ID (internal diameter) can be larger, and so the reel can operate with lower pressures and therefore lower energy costs for the same spraying performance.
These irrigators can also move and irrigate in straight tracks and through soft curves, so the hose length can be utilised in the best possible way to ensure efficient field irrigation, leading to longer uptime, and savings on set-up time and man-hours, as much of the manual field work can now be done from the tractor.
